In this class, we will attempt to offer a counter-narrative to the popular model of marriage, that of Adam and Eve. In fact, Ruth and Boaz offer a different model of the wedding (encoded in various wedding rituals and texts) that open up alternative understandings. Our goal will be to see the story – and the wedding ritual – in a new light.
