To listen is a central Jewish commandment. What does it mean to listen? The answer comes from the Hebrew word Shema -- listen. The book Sefer Yetzira makes it clear that the "Shhh" and the "Mmmm" sounds correspond exactly to the energies referred to as Yang and Yin respectively. The Biblical narrative makes it clear that holiness is achieved from balancing and awareness of these two energies. Movements from Tai Chi coupled with Shema chanting will be used to illustrate these core “Jewish” principles.
